Why it matters

The CEO view

Co-founded UCWeb in 2004 and sold it to Alibaba in 2014, ran Alibaba's mobile business group, then took over as XPeng's chairman and CEO. He has pushed the company past cars into what it calls physical AI - in-house Turing chips, the VLA driving model, the IRON humanoid robot and a robotaxi - and took direct control of the robotics unit in 2026.

Earnings calls

  1. Q2 2026 Aug 24, 2026 He Xiaopeng used the call to re-cast XPeng as two businesses funded by one supply chain. He opened not with the cars but with the robot: over USD 900 million raised at a USD 6.2 billion post-money valuation, a business he now runs himself as CEO alongside the carmaker, and which he argues is at least twenty times harder than building smart EVs. His case for why XPeng specifically can do it was industrial rather than visionary - over 85% of the robot's supply chain partners are already building its cars, and each IRON should earn more over its life than a vehicle does. On the cars he was candid about a ramp that slipped: the MONA L03 set an order record and then ran into extreme weather and supply-chain disruption, and he apologised to customers for it while pointing at a fourth quarter he expects to exit above 60,000 deliveries a month. The quieter argument, and the one the numbers support, is that exports now carry the company - overseas deliveries passed 20,000 in a quarter for the first time, at an average selling price above EUR 40,000, and more than a quarter of first-half revenue came from outside China.
