Market Cap = Share Price × Shares Outstanding
How to Interpret
Mega-cap: >$200B. Large-cap: $10-200B. Mid-cap: $2-10B. Small-cap: <$2B. Larger market cap generally means lower volatility and more institutional ownership. But market cap ≠ intrinsic value — it's just the current market consensus.
Why It Matters
Market cap determines index inclusion (S&P 500 requires ~$18B+), which drives passive fund buying. It's the primary way to measure a company's size and compare companies across sectors.
