What we learned
- An EPS beat and a raised full-year outlook still lost double digits, because revenue landed light. $3.27B of revenue below expectations, against FY2026 guidance raised to $14B of revenue and $6.70 of adjusted EPS .
- Raising the year while missing the quarter is itself the evidence on demand. Vertiv attributed the shortfall to supply-chain congestion and project execution timing , not orders. A company seeing genuine demand softness does not raise the full year in the same release.
- The cash line was the strongest part of the print and got no attention. Operating cash flow +241% to $1.1B and adjusted free cash flow +234% to $925M .
- The setup did much of the damage. The stock came in already down roughly 11–12% over the prior month and about 25% off its highs, while still up over 50% year to date and nearly 90% over twelve months.
- The sell side did not move with the price. The average target stayed near $376 , roughly 28–40% above the post-drop price, with KeyBanc initiating Overweight at $360 — analysts treating a timing miss as timing.
