What we learned
- The warning we led on was the thing nobody else led on. GAAP diluted EPS of $1.17 against non-GAAP $0.81 — net income of $2.4B includes a $1.6B investment revaluation benefit .
- Gross bookings held above the top of guidance at $58.0B, +24% (+22% constant currency), after Q1's +25%. The durability question is answered for another quarter.
- Trailing free cash flow crossed $10B for the first time, on $2.8B in the quarter and a 19.73% margin.
- The Rule of 40 did not move. 31.89 against 31.79 — 12.16 of revenue growth plus 19.73 of free-cash-flow margin. A quarter that looked eventful was, on this site's measure, identical to the one before it.
- The stock fell 5.29% on the fourth thing, not the first three. Three of four watch items came back at or above what the record implied; Q3 guidance of $58.25–60.25B of bookings and $0.84–0.88 of non-GAAP EPS is what moved it.
