Meta Platforms, Inc. · Q2 2026 call
What the CEO argued
Zuckerberg spent his time arguing that Meta's AI spending has stopped being a promise and started being a line item that pays: LLMs inside the ranking systems are lifting engagement and ad performance now, and on top of that he laid out two businesses that do not exist yet — personal agents, and an enterprise business selling APIs, business agents and, if the price is right, raw compute. He said Meta is getting offers for compute at a meaningful premium to what it paid, and that he would still rather sell intelligence than compute because the margin is better. Asked whether Meta could stop training frontier models and build on someone else's open weights, he said no on both capability and dependency grounds, and framed Meta as a full-stack company that has always gone down to its own data centres, chips and low-level software. He closed on the spending itself: a big bet, made deliberately, that he expects to be rewarded.
