Datadog, Inc. · Q2 2026 call
What the CEO argued
Pomel's argument was that Datadog's quarter and Datadog's biggest customer are two different stories, and that the market should read the first one. He kept returning to the non-AI base — the customers that existed before any of this — accelerating for a fifth straight quarter, to the high 20s percent from 18% a year earlier, and said that backing the largest customer out of the growth rate leaves "pretty much the same growth." That customer renewed but is using less, and rather than model it he took it out of the guide altogether so it would not be "an overhang on what is otherwise a business that is accelerating and performing extremely well." The rest of the call was his case for why the acceleration is durable rather than a 2021 repeat: AI raises customers' costs and complexity, Datadog sells against both, and the product is moving from watching systems to repairing them — "not just observing, it’s fixing."
